DEAR IPA MEMBER,
IPA Hiking Club are now taking names for their Achill Hike on the 11th of March, 2023. This is suitable for both A1 and A2 Grades. Thanks to John O Sullivan for leading.

This walk will start at 0900hrs on the 11th of March. It should take approximately 6 hours and will be walked at a very moderate pace. The walk will begin at Lough Acorrymore Dam and is a point-to-point, following the Cliffs of Croaghaun west before turning southeast and heading for Keem Bay, where the walk finishes.

A short carpool will be required; as a group, we will meet at Keem and then carpool to the start point.
A heavy cloud can appear rapidly on climbs on the west coast, so waterproofs and boots will be necessary regardless of the weather forecast. The above route indicates where we aim to go, but our best-laid plans depend on the weather, so the plan will be adapted to suit the day.
This walk is classed as moderate due to its proximity to the steep ground and the potential impact of the weather. The route offers spectacular views, which we will have plenty of time to enjoy. The walk does not start at sea level, making it very manageable.
